ON TODAY’S SHOW:

The International Court of Justice ruled today that Israel must take steps to prevent genocide in Gaza as it fights Hamas. I’ll break down what the ruling says, what it doesn’t say, and how Benjamin Netanyahu reacted.

Alabama just executed a death row inmate in a new way: suffocation by nitrogen. How did it go, and is this the future of the death penalty?

The RNC removed an item from next week’s winter meeting agenda in Las Vegas: a resolution to name Donald Trump the “presumptive nominee” right now. What does this mean for his presidential campaign, and how might his Republican challenger Nikki Haley respond?

Also, I think Nikki Haley should make it a point to get on "The Daily Show" now that Jon Stewart is back as its host. I'll explain why.

And I'm debating my strategy for social media: specifically, when to walk away from a platform/app for ethical reasons. Substack has been under scrutiny lately, and Elon Musk keeps X under nearly constant scorn. I idled my longstanding X profile at the beginning of this year... but now I'm rethinking it. What should I do? I'll tell you what's on my mind - let me know what you think.

*NOTE: Today’s episode aired before the jury had returned its verdict in the E. Jean Carroll defamation case. It ruled that Donald Trump must pay Carroll $83.3 million.*

**CHAPTER GUIDE:**

4:39 - Alabama execution
22:28 - ICJ genocide ruling
55:58 - E. Jean Carroll case
58:15 - Trump/Haley nomination fight
1:22:34 - Why I think Haley needs to go on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”
1:35:21 - Social media ethics

**ONE MORE THING…**

Social media isn’t the only part of my strategy I’ve been agonizing over. *The Night Light* is building a good following, and I’m trying to keep it growing strong. To that end, this week’s full episodes are available to everyone, including free subscribers, along with chapter guides to each segment. Posting individual segments rather than 2-hour podcasts might be my future strategy - or perhaps, posting both and letting you decide what you prefer. Let me know what you think of the podcast as it stands now - any feedback or suggestions would be very helpful.
